Personalisation
This holistic approach is the shared ambition across Government to put people first through a radical reform of public services. It will mean that people are able to live their own lives as they wish; confident that services are of high quality, are safe and promote their own individual needs for independence, well-being, and dignity.
Personalisation, including a strategic shift towards early intervention and prevention, will be the cornerstone of public services. This means that every person who receives support, whether provided by statutory services or funded by themselves, will have choice and control over the shape of that support in all care settings.
The Personalisation Toolkit is an on-line resource to support councils as they undertake planning for transformation of their social care systems, as part of the implementation of Putting People First, the cross government commitment in partnership with local government, the NHS and the social care sector to the transformation of social care.

Alongside a Planning for Transformation Framework the Toolkit also collates learning so far from the Individual Budget Pilot Programme about some of the key areas councils will be concerned with, including allocation of resources, brokerage and support planning and equalities. The toolkit is now available at www.toolkit.personalisation.org.uk
CSIP North West will be hosting a series of workshops for personalisation leads in Local Authorities over the coming months. The aim of the workshops is to
- offer programme managers leading social care transformation in Local Authorities a framework for how to structure their programmes to deliver on personal budgets, and an opportunity to get a new perspective on some of the challenges, taking the learning from the Individual budget pilot programme, In Control and other relevant initiatives and
- offer finance leads in Local Authorities who will be involved in social care transformation learning so far about approaches to financial sustainability and allocation of resources.
